Hawes Farm is on the edge of the Lake District National Park. Ennerdale Village is ten minutes walk and has pubs with good food. Ennerdale Lake is beautiful, and is the only major lake not to have a road around it. There are excellent mountain and woodland walks within easy reach, and country walks from the door. Buttermere and Wasdale are 30 minutes drive away. Cockermouth is a lovely local market town and Whitehaven is a little known Georgian harbour town. The coast is 7 miles away.
